Marzia Chierichetti was brought up in Milan where she studied Art and Interior Design and latterly worked as a stylist for both BOFFI and CAPPELLINI INT. and alongside photographers for major interior publications. Her career took a dramatic turn when she met husband Justin Aniere, and moved from the bustling city life to a very different environment; a tented bush-camp in Kenya. Initially overawed by the wilderness and vast expanses of Africa, Marzia used the long periods of time alone in the camp when Justin was on safari with clients, to inspire her first creations. Harnessing the natural textures, rich colours and unique shapes of objects found around her, Marzia began to make jewelry for pleasure. A few years later, having moved to the family’s home – a stunning rustic retreat nestled amongst sand-dunes and coconut palms on a broad Indian ocean beach, Marzia was utilizing recycled aluminium, semi-precious stones, bone and mango wood. Her work went full circle, when she branched back into interiors, creating furniture, fabrics and soft furnishings; all inspired by the Africa around her but with the unique appeal of contemporary Europe. Her work lends a new life to once insignificant raw materials and discarded bottles or pieces of metal, resulting in pieces of unique artwork, beautiful in their simplicity and clean lines; something from nothing. As her imagination explored the elements around her in this wild place, she created her own beautiful refuge – a house of light, flowing lines and quiet space; open to the elements and fresh air. Today, Marzia’s creations can be seen all over the world and her own personal touch is evident in many a private home, or public place; gracing a space with a candid reflection of the beauty to be found in the simplest of things.
